A little about me

I'm a psychotherapist and counsellor working in private practice in Edinburgh, trained in Transactional Analysis. I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I sit on the committee of the Scottish Transactional Analysis Association (STAA).

I came to this work through my own therapy. I went looking for support at a point in my life when I could see old patterns starting to resurface, and I didn't want to pass them on. What changed things for me wasn't a technique or a worksheet. It was the relationship I built with my own therapist, and the trust that grew out of it. That experience shaped how I work now more than any training did.

Most of the people I work with would tell you their life is fine. Often it is, in the ways that are easy to point to. But there's a quieter version of not-fine that doesn't come with an obvious cause which has a sense that something didn't get met, even though nothing dramatic happened. That's usually where I come in.

I pay close attention to what's happening underneath the words you say, what i notice in the body, in the room, in the gap between what someone says and what they're actually feeling. I'll often say what I'm noticing out loud and ask if it lands, rather than assuming I'm right. I'd rather be a real person in the room with you than a neutral presence you're performing for.

I work slowly, because I don't think trust can be rushed, and I don't think the things that actually change people can be either. This isn't therapy that hands you a worksheet in week one. It's therapy that takes the time to understand what's actually going on, and stays with you while you work out what to do about it.

Alongside individual work, I see couples including queer, non-binary, and ENM-aligned couples building relationships outside the default script and I work with women in the sex industry, in partnership with the charities that support them.

I'm currently working toward my CTA (Certified Transactional Analyst) qualification.

Sessions

I primarily offer long-term, exploratory therapy for those who want to work at depth. Looking not just at current difficulties, but at the patterns, relationships, and early experiences that continue to shape your life.

For some people, a shorter, time-limited focus (such as a 12-week block) can be helpful. We can talk together about what feels most appropriate for you, and this can be reviewed as our work unfolds.

I understand plans change and if you need to cancel, I just ask for as much notice as you can give. Sessions cancelled with less than 72 hours' notice are charged in full.

Contact

If you would like any further information, or to enquire about starting working together you are welcome to contact me via email  or send me a text where we can find a time that best works for us to talk.
